MKN CARES

Giving back to the community and to those in need is a long tradition of Camp Mah-Kee-Nac. Our campers and staff take part in many different philanthropic events throughout the summer. We believe that this is an important part of the Mah-Kee-Nac Experience. Our goal is to continue to instill the values and beliefs that make a Mah-Kee-Nac camper so special.

At America's Camp, over 200 boys and girls who lost a parent on 9-11 have the opportunity to experience a special summer camp created just for them. Camp Mah-Kee-Nac has been proud to have be the original host site for this wonderful program. Mah-Kee-Nac staff volunteer their time to help run this week-long camp. Mah-Kee-Nac campers assist in many ways to help in this incredible experience.

Camp Mah-Kee-Nac campers and staff participate in a Swim-a-Thon during the summer to help raise money to send these children to camp.

scopeS.C.O.P.E. (www.scope-ny.org)

SCOPE was the founded in 1991 by camp directors from the American Camp Association's New York Section (ACA-NY) who were motivated by their belief in the educational and developmental benefits of camp. They recognized the need to provide equivalent camping opportunities to all children - regardless of their socio-economic background - and thus established the SCOPE program in an effort to do so.
